Trencher Master Gunner by cwalton73 Trencher Master Gunner by cwalton73
"Master gunners are survivors of countless battles and have earned expertise that makes them some of the most valued artillerists in all of Cygnar. These men and women are versed in all the skills of the artilleryman from barrage firing patterns to the use of defilades. They are experts in the complex commands used to coordinate a battery of field guns. Where other armies make use of artillery as support, the master gunners orchestrate their batteries into precision instruments of war."

So he can get in his door in the morning!

I just like keys. They are kind of a recurring theme.

Interesting, but not quite as cool as the other one. I'm not sure why, but his hat/hood annoys me to no end. Wonderful job on the body and details though! It feel like if I stare at him long enough, he'll just crumple under the weight of all his stuff and wriggle around like... a turtle! That's what he makes me think of, a turtle!

SO you draw this up and they hire a sculptor to make it a reality or do you sculpt out the concept as well. I always wondered that. And are you Privateer Press's only character designer?

I just do the drawing. If I touched the sculpts, the poor sculptors would be climbing the walls!

I do the lion's share of concepting for Privateer Press now. We have other artists who design for us, but most of the current character designing is done my me.

Your my hero, Brewster!

That is cool though. So you don't sculpt the models, but are you allowed to make suggestions or request changes if you don't feel they emulate your work?

Now that's interesting... these are for miniatures production, right? Don't they insist on you illustrating the pose to be sculpted?

Well, I first try to do a drawing that evocative of the character and that gives the most "readable" information to the sculptor. Then I do a gestural drawing for the pose. When I have time, I try to do the illustration in the same pose but it doesn't always work out that way. :) Always so much to do.
