Dr. Arkadius Minion Warlock by cwalton73 Dr. Arkadius Minion Warlock by cwalton73
"Dr. Arkadius is a skilled surgeon and scientist with an obsession for the manipulation and development of life. Constantly striving to create ever more terrible warbeasts, strengthening their bodies, making them more aggressive, and healing their wounds in battle. Dr. Arkadius can also turn his skills upon his enemies, using his combat syringe to inject potent serums designed to scramble a targetís higher brain functions or even usurp control of its body. "

So THIS is what the Medic looks like when he gets old and bitter and retires from the whole 'mercenary cage fight' business.

And I know I've said it before, but your lineart always blows me away. I've still got so far to go le sigh.

Really not trying to be a jerk here, but this reminds me of Fabius Bile.

Granted, its hard to have a doctor type in any game equipped with a syringe gun that doesn't lean towards Fabius Bile, so please don't think I am trashing you.

You know, not to be a jerk, but Fabius Bile reminds me of Doctor Moreau who reminds us of Doctor Frankenstein.

Plus, real life examples would include all the professional atheletes who are injecting stuff nonstop to get "better" at their craft and the chemists that are always looking to build newer more effective drugs for those atheletes to use...

No

Neither Dr Moreau nor Dr Frankenstein strapped mutating chemicals to their backs. Conceptually they are similiar, however the end results are vastly different, unlike Fabius Bile.

Pro Athletes don't strap HGH/testosterone/ etc.. canisters on their backs nor do they carry "guns of it onto the playing field to warp the minds of their weekly/ daily opponent.

Neither do Chemists.

The similarities of Warhammer and War Machine/ Iron Kingdoms has been discussed and pointed out ad nauseum, and generally I agree with D Seacat and the rest of his crew at PP on how you can always draw correlations between the artwork no matter whats done. Its the nature of the beast. It doesn't change that this looks remarkably similar to this:

or if you prefer artwork from other PP fella's:

So, not to be a jerk, but your wrong, have fun replying

So *this* is what a fantasy version of Fabious Bile looks like :XD:

Can never have enough nutcase doctors who love genetics a little too much. They always make the best villains.

Dungeons and Dragons had their own 'fantsay' version of Fabius Bile before GW even created Bile....

The difference is they were sorcerors, not scientists.
But you had the Illithid, anyone in Necromancy (making fkesh golems etc), various creatures (NPCs) that can add body parts.
Tons of options.

Eeerrmmmm... ok?

See, the reason why I drew the analogy to Fabius Bile and Dr. Arkadius was not what Bile does or how he goes about it. Guys that do that sort of thing are a dime a dozen...seriously.

Rather, I drew comparisons with the *look* that Fabius Bile has and how it is similar to Dr. Arkadius. This is going from the long, heavy 'doctor's coat', massive apparatus on the back, weaponry and facial features.

It's okay, I still love you.:hump:

But if you look at the early cyberpunk stuff they have the long coats and various attached items as well.
Steampunk too.

I'm not sure, in miniature games, that you can get away from the same type of characters because everything is restricted to the miniature.

Even the good necromancer minies have a lot of the same items, like books and lanterns or skulls (or both).

If the characters weren't limited to miniature figures, you'd see a lot more diversity.

I bet you Rackham has a Fabius Bile guy too. They used to have the best sculpts ever.

Not going to disagree with you there. I mean, there are certain things that carry across all genres no matter what it is one is talking about. I mean, a guy with a long black trenchcoat, sunglasses and short dark hair is likely going to be compared to Neo or the Terminator.

...the thing that caught my attention with the design for Dr. Arkadius is that there is a striking similarity to Fabius Bile. I am not suggesting that Bile's design is truly unique or that nobody else is permitted to have similar characters in appearance especially if the concept fits. What I am saying is that was the first thing that came to my mind.

I agree.

It's so hard to avoid comparisons when limited to 25mm models.

But I'd rather have him with the trenchcoat and not a tutu:P

Or he's inspired by Riffraff's look from the Rocky Horror show. One of the two. I'm sure you're right though.

Maybe. Though it's been ages since I've seen RHP, so you could be right there... who knows?

Either way, I like the design and concept ^_^
